Wunderwelt – Hohe Göll

After Europe’s big lockdown, and only one possible short week for me to go climbing, it was uncertain where to go. Fortunately, Germany and Luxemburg opened up, while France, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria were still closed.

Roland Bekendam and me decided to go the Berchtesgadener Alps. Berchtesgaden is located in Bayern, south-easthern Germany, close to the border to Austria. We both had never been there before. Unfortunately, the weather forecast was bad…. just two days of so so.. weather followed by days with thunder and rain. So we decided to climb a long route, called ‘Wunderwelt’ at the mountain Hohe Göll, and a short route the next day.

After that, we went to the Frankenjura, where some crags stay dry quite long. An ejoyable trip, in which we made most out of the bad conditions!

Below some pictures of Wunderwelt. With its 450 meters height, free 7a climbing with a pitch of A1 aid climbing, not a giveaway!
